Teresa moved to Matakana in 2002 with her husband Jason. She has been teaching children for 20 years and has three children whom attend the local primary and high school.
Previous to setting up Matakana Village Preschool she also established in partnership an existing local preschool before moving on after 9 years. She has now come full circle to creating an environment that truly reflects her own ideals of what quality early childhood education looks like, incorporating the diverseness and individuality that each child brings and building on each individuals strengths and interests through a mixture of play based and teacher initiated philosophy. Incorporating early literacy and numeracy skills into early childhood education is a passion for Teresa and this is encouraged in a number of different ways. She is committed to working in collaboration with the new entrant teachers at Matakana Primary School to ensure that the children are reaching their full potential in all aspects of learning and development in preparation for transition to primary school.

Melanie has been with Matakana Village Preschool since opening in April 2015 and has been involved in preschool education for many years.
Having lived on the Hibiscus Coast for 30 years, she and her husband moved to Omaha six years ago. Melaine has raised three daughters all of whom have left home to create their own lives, she is also a Grandmother to two delightful grandsons.
Melanie has had experience with children of all ages but preschool years are a time in a child's life she feels is paramount to the child's present and future development and well being.
As a 'mature' teacher, she brings a dimension to Matakana Village Preschool which reflects the dynamics of the families within our community.
Meanie has a strong pull toward reducing our ecological foot print and is passionate about creating an environment for children that is founded in nature and reducing our waste.
A sense of humour, openness and honesty, with children, parents and colleagues, are qualities Melanie values to enhance a child and their family's experience at preschool.

Shannon has been a part of the team at Matakana Village Preschool since its opening day in April 2015.
Shannon began teaching as soon as she left college. She lives in Tomorata where she grew up and has two young daughters, one of whom has attended preschool with us, and her elder daughter attends Matakana Primary School.
Shannon loves the environment that is Matakana Village Preschool. By creating a nurturing and caring environment for children to grow in they really reach their full potential, in a place that is a home away from home.
She believes in strong parent, whanau, teacher and child relationships and sees how beneficial a positive learning environment has on children's well being and belonging.
Children reach their developmental milestones with us in a way that is a natural progression of development, they learn through being an active participant in our little community that is Matakana Village Preschool.
